Ocean Acoustics

A physical understanding of underwater acoustics is important to strengthen understanding in other areas of ocean dynamics. This seminar will give a general overview of acoustics in the ocean, covering typical sound speed profiles, what parameters affect sound speed, and different ways acoustic behavior is often modeled (including various boundary conditions). In addition, Naval applications which use acoustics and current projects will be reviewed.
